The Group was founded in 2005 in Gryfino near Szczecin by Eliza Hołubowska – its artistic director and choreographer. Previously the group operated as VOGUE Dance Theatre. Apart from contemporary dance, the group extends its means of expression, using various theatre techniques and other dance styles. In this way EGO-VU attempts to create its own theatrical language, and one of the main aspects of the performances is their message. EGO-VU is one of the most important dance promoters in the region and a dance showpiece for all West Pomerania. The group has presented its performances at the most important festivals in Poland, including International Presentations of Contemporary Dance Forms (Kalisz), Lublin International Dance Theatres Festival, International Conference and Performance Festival (Bytom), International Festival SOLO DANCE (Kalisz).

Members of the group work closely with KANA Theatre in Szczecin, creating combined performances. In the past they also collaborated with German Historienwerkstatt Association and Toller Markgraf (Schwedt). Their common performances were done both in Germany and Poland. Currently, the group gives performances at the Schwedt Uckermärkische Bühnen Theatre.

Eliza Hołubowska and EGO-VU collaborate on an ongoing basis with the German Schloss Broellin Centre for Creative Research, CHOREA Theatre Association in Łódź and New Front Theatre from the Czech Republic.

In 2011 the group had its first international tour to Spain and Portugal (6 performances, including at International Festival of Alternative Theatres of Jean Subterrane).

EGO-VU attempts to develop and improve the technique of the dancer-actor, taking part in numerous workshops and dance festivals, and inviting teachers and guest performances. Some of the best dancers and choreographers, including Leszek Bzdyl, Aurora Lubos, Katarzyna Chmielewska, Rafał Dziemidok, Wojciech Mochniej, Dance Theatre Project, performed at the Gryfino stage. EGO-VU also invited to Gryfino and still collaborate with foreign artists, including Compagnie Trajectoire (France) Sean Feldman (England) and Henrik Kaalund (Germany).

Currently, the repertoire of the group includes such performances as Passing and 1, 2, 3, 4 (choreography by Eliza Hołubowska) and Deteriorations (choreography by Henrik Kaalund) (all from 2012).
